About NordCalAI
A small project built in Sweden, designed to make tracking what you eat feel less like data entry and more like noticing.
Why we made it
Most nutrition apps drown you in fields, banners, and upsells. We wanted something cleaner — an app that respects your attention, gets out of the way, and uses AI only where it actually saves you time (like reading a meal off a photo). The Scandinavian design tradition leans into restraint; this app does too.
What "calm tech" means here
- No streaks-as-pressure. No guilt-trips. No "you missed a day" notifications.
- Reminders are off by default. You set them only if you want them.
- No sponsored content, no ads, no third-party trackers.
- Dark mode by default. Light mode if you prefer.
How the AI works
When you take a photo of a meal, it's analysed to return identified foods and estimated portions. Your photos are never used to train models. Barcode and text searches use cached nutrition data from trusted public food databases.
What we won't do
- Sell your data. Not now, not ever. There's no business model that depends on it.
- Push diet shame or quick-fix marketing. Sustainable habits beat hype.
- Hide pricing or trick you into renewals. If we charge, you'll know exactly what for.
